The 1D X Mark II is finally out in quantity, although early reports say Canon can’t meet up with demand.
My basic commentary: the 1D X Mark II is a worthy successor. It may not however make sense for people with a 1D X to go out and upgrade other than the most demanding Sports shooters. The 1D X is still more than sufficient for anyone doing work and not simply wanting the latest and greatest, except for one killer feature. The 1D X Mark II does 4K. It’s now more or less merged with the 1DC. Depending on how the 5D IV/5D X turns out, the 1D X II may be the dSLR cinema camera of choice. Mostly because it can do everything and is versatile as well as supporting a wide range of frame rates as well as RAW recording. The price tag is a minor deterrent. The 1D X Mark II is a better deal from a cost perspective than the C300.
That’s pretty amazing to think about. Technology just keeps getting better, faster, cheaper.
